Your photos stay yours. Cobalt Photo has no account and no tracking, and nothing it does with your pictures leaves your PC.

What is sent: nothing

Places

Where a photo was taken — the town, the region, the country, the folder's map — is worked out on your PC from maps built into Cobalt Photo (GeoNames and Natural Earth). No photo and no place is sent to a map service to do it.

Only Open map, when you click it, opens the place in your browser, on the map you chose in Settings → Manager → Open places in: that one photo's coordinates go there, and nothing else.

What is kept, and where

Settings, the thumbnail cache, the details read from photos, the backups of photos you replaced in the editor (for a week) and your watermark logos are kept in Cobalt Photo's own folder on your PC. Installed from the Microsoft Store, Windows keeps that folder with the app and removes it when you uninstall.

Before you share photos

Photos from phones carry where they were taken. Cobalt Photo never adds anything to them, and helps take it out: Remove metadata, the drop panel's Remove location, and Convert, which never keeps the location.
